Shoe of the Week

This week's shoe is yet another sandal and one that made it to my birthday wish-list. As the weather warms up, my little piggy toes are beginning to ache for some sunlight and fresh air. They have been cooped up in boots for too long.

These sandals caught my eye as a practical and sophisticated sandal that will work well with jeans and dresses. Since I don't own too many sandals, I look to only buy ones that can be worn for many occasions.

I love the short heel on these sandals and the simplistic buckle. The sandal in general is simple in order to leave the drama for the metallic statement heel. It is the focus of the sandal and it is all that is needed to elevate a simple sandal and make it awesome enough to put it on my summer wish list.

Shoe of the Week

I just did a shoe inventory the other day and was surprised to find that I actually do not own many sandals. I always find a pair or two each season that I love, but I can resist sandals a lot easier than boots. I have a weakness for boots.

But when I stumbled upon these Jeffrey Campbell sandals on the Free People website I was surprised with how quickly I tagged the page and made a mental note to keep an eye on these beauties.

I love the studded detail, the caged ankle and the small wedge.

I usually would buy the black sandals, but something about that color tan has me styling a dozen different looks with items in my closet.

What??? Jeffrey Campbell "Paige" Studded Sandal

Where???  Free People

How Much??? $158

Too much for me to pay for a pair of sandals. Maybe someday they will go on sale. Until then, they will stay just a bookmark on my desktop and a Shoe of the Week.

My Hunger Games

While all of the other kids were off drinking this weekend, I was spending my day online shopping and creating Hunger Games trend boards. I am a nerd.

Makes me really really miss making trend boards back in school. It might have been my favorite part of the design process.

I love to clip photos an arrange them in a way that shows exactly what inspires me.

Here is just a little more proof that at times I wish I was Katniss... well except for the whole her having to fight to save her life thing. That part wouldn't be fun. But the clothes... that would be fun.

My Hunger Games

  • First of all if I had the extra money just sitting around I would spend it on this amazing Vivienne Westwood coat. If i put it on I can guarentee that I would never take it off.
  • My boots! Comfortable... I highly suggest them to anyone.
  • How cute are those bracelets?! If you have read the books then you know how sweet it would be to give those bracelets to someone.
  • The pin and earrings would be fun to doll up a dull outfit.
  • I need to hunt down that nail polish set. Every color is perfectly selected.
  • That braid!!! I need to learn to braid like that!!!

Have you heard of Frocktober?

image via modcloth

A little known fact about me... I love buying things for a good cause. Give me a product that donates time, money or really anything to a person in need and I am sold. Simple as that.

I am such a sucker for companies such as Toms and Warby Parker, not only because their products are top notch, but because of their extraordinary mission statements and the work done behind the scenes. (Tom shoes donates a pair of shoes for every pair bought and Warby Parker donates glasses.)

Well when Modcloth sent an email about the Frocktober Dress my ears perked up. First of all the dress is insanely cute and screams "fall", but the dress also has great meaning to it. It is in support of Ovarian Cancer and 20% of the proceeds from the dress are donated to the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation of Australia. According to the Modcloth website:

Have you heard? It’s Frocktober! What does this mean? During the month of October, people around the world are rocking frocks to raise funds and awareness for ovarian cancer research.  Since its start in 2007, when a group of friends in Geelong, Australia each donned a dress, went out to a pub, and passed around a hat to raise $200, Frocktober continues to grow each year with more women — and some men — rocking frocks for the cause. The Frocktober challenge is simple: wear a dress to raise funds and awareness for ovarian cancer research.
I had never heard of such a thing until just a few weeks ago, but now I am obsessed. Make sure to check out the dress and pick one up. Wear your support in orange!
I found a few of my favorite bloggers showing their support and looking extra cute in their Frocktober dresses. Who knew one dress could be worn so many different ways?! Styled so differently yet equally adorable- these girls never seem to disappoint.

Shoe of the Week

Seriously... how cute are these?! They combine a few of my favorite things... cats, Jeffrey Campbell Litas, and a print that looks like it could have made a great couch in my grandmother's place.

They are the perfect shoe for a cat fanatic... splattered with cat faces without screaming 'crazy cat woman!' These would be a great conversational piece... "Are those cats on your shoes?!" Why yes they are! Jealous?!

My only wish is that they would make a loafer with this same tapestry print...I'd be quicker to snatch them up and then I would wear them everyday.

Where? A few sizes are left at solestruck.com

How much? $160.

Enjoy!

Shoe of the Week

This Shoe of the Week has been an obsession almost a year in the making.

Last January I saw Chiara on her blog The Blonde Salad wearing a pair of boots. Studded biker boots by Ash to be exact.  I am constantly reading her blog... I find her style to be constantly inspiring, but this look made me go crazy. She took almost all of my favorite things and put them all into one outfit. Funky boots? Check! Big scarf? Check! Leather jacket? Check! Comfy jeans? Check! All the ingredients for a perfect fall outfit. Makes me wish the temperatures would drop 20 degrees overnight so I could rock a similar ensemble... minus the dog.

Ok... back to the shoes... I immediately thought "I need those!" Well once I found them and found out their price tag I knew they would never be mine. Sad. However, their studded amazing-ness has never left my mind and when shopping online yesterday I found that Free People is selling these boots, but with a gunmetal stud which I love even more! Still they have that scary high price tag... but I will keep these photos on file and dream of someday having an extra 400 to sell on shoes. Someone want to give me 400 bucks for a pair of boots?! Any takers?!?

What? Ash Biker Studded Boots "Vedder Boots"

Where? Free People or Solestruck

How Much?  $385.00 <--- scary high price right?
Why do I always fall for really expensive shoes?!

Missoni for Target

On September 13th you will be able to find me in a Target with arms full of amazing designs... Missoni designs to be accurate.

The amazing Target has done it again and teamed up with yet another designer to create a collection for ladies on a budget.

Missoni for Target is already gaining lots of buzz and I am sure I will have to fight some girls at the racks to get the best sweaters on opening day. I have been waiting patiently for photos of all the designs and today was my lucky day. They finally posted photos on Target's website and honestly they are drool worthy.

Bright colors mixed into fall staples... Sweaters, cardigans, knit shorts, skirts, a robe, and even cute rain-boots are just a few of the amazing pieces in this collection. And I want them all!

I will have to drag Brian with me to go shopping (I bet he is thrilled). Otherwise I may go crazy and be in BIG trouble when my Target Card bill comes in the mail. I will have no self control... none!

These designs make me so happy for the arrival of fall. I better be sporting one of these cardigans all Autumn long! September 13th... can't come too enough!

Check out all the designs here

hello colorful amazing flats... you will be mine!

They even have house wears like these retro looking vases.

Gimme Gimme More...

It is the middle of August... time for me to start thinking about my fall wardrobe. I obviously mostly wear what I did last year (I'm not made of money!) but I do love to update with some new shoes and some new accessories. I can not explain how excited I am for fall and wearing sweaters and boots and scarves... lots of scarves.
One thing on my wish list for fall would have to be... this beauty!
So I have been eyeing these shrugs since last season and have tried my best to contain my obsession... but a girl can only be good for so long. I need this shrug for fall. I would love to wear it over t-shirts or tanks to work, but also over dresses for special occasions. They come in a bunch of colors -- decisions decisions.

This Etsy site in amazing and I suggest that everyone check it out. But be careful.. you may become obsessed.

I also would love to have one of these chain scarves in my fall wardrobe.
I love the style...a giant cozy chain necklace.
The best kind of accessory...especially if it is in yellow!
