Needle Pulling Thread

Half way thru the week... I've made it half way thru. *sigh of relief* Looking forward to tomorrow. Brian is taking me to another Phillies Game. I have my Hunter Pence t-shirt washed and ready to wear! Since tomorrow will be a t-shirt day I decided to go slightly "dressier" today.

This shirt was a sewing project which had been sitting on my machine for a year. Two weekends ago I finally got around to cleaning off my sewing table and getting a dozen sewing projects finished.  This was once a dress from Old Navy. (I should have taken a before photo.) I had worn it a lot because I loved the print, but the material was really cheap and the seams kept tearing. I slowly kept taking the seams in and adding fray-check. However, I finally took in enough that it didn't fit over my big hips. oops. Not ready to part with this pretty print I was forced to problem solve... So I just cut off the bottom. Problem solved... I now have a a pretty blouse! A degree in fashion design and look.. I can turn a dress into a shirt. Wow.. my professors would be proud. More challenging sewing projects to come.. promise.

Hoping the rest of the week goes quick for everyone. Goodnight!

Blouse: Old Navy (once a dress)
Jeans: American Eagle
Shoes: Blowfish
Purse: B. Makowsky
Necklace: JCPenny

Best purse ever. I found it at my new obsession... Plato's Closet.
It was a brand new with tags still on it B. Makowsky purse. Retailed at almost $200... but I scored this beauty for only $12!!! It is a dream come true. I wanted a new purse for fall, but I only splurge on shoes... not purses so this was fate. Brand new leather purse for under 20 bucks. Can't even get a faux leather purse for that little.

And a little dose of cuteness. Hello Mr. Bobbins! :)

They Call Me Mellow Yellow

So I am behind on everything. I have photos coming out the wazoo and shoe selections to post and inspiration and the whole shebang... but I have been so busy and crazy with work.

Today I will be quick and just post my outfit that I wore to work.

The weather here in PA has been amazing lately. It feels like the temperature dropped 10 degrees overnight and we had an amazing weekend with cool nights. I love having the windows open and no AC on. I love the feeling of fall... football season and fall festivals, leaves falling and all the clothes that accompany cooler weather.

The best season of the year is upon us.

While I am ready to wear sweaters and boots, I still have sandals and summer dresses that have not been worn nearly enough this summer. (I should start wearing 2 outfits a day.. but think about all that laundry!! geez. no way!) Today I did a mix of fall colors with my last remaining summer shoes that have needed some air time. I love the pop of yellow with the neutral colors.

Okay, well that is all for tonight... I wanna be quick... Glee is on is a minute and then The New Girl which I have been looking forward to seeing. I hope it is funny but mostly I just hope it doesn't get cancelled. Every time I look forward to a show it seems to get the axe. Sigh. Maybe I am bad luck.

Shoes: Payless (two years old)
Jeans: American Eagle  ($25-megasale)
Coat: American Eagle ($13-clearance)
Shirt: Target
(super old and probably my most worn shirt ever)
Glasses: Warby Parker

Shoe of the Week

Seriously... how cute are these?! They combine a few of my favorite things... cats, Jeffrey Campbell Litas, and a print that looks like it could have made a great couch in my grandmother's place.

They are the perfect shoe for a cat fanatic... splattered with cat faces without screaming 'crazy cat woman!' These would be a great conversational piece... "Are those cats on your shoes?!" Why yes they are! Jealous?!

My only wish is that they would make a loafer with this same tapestry print...I'd be quicker to snatch them up and then I would wear them everyday.

Where? A few sizes are left at solestruck.com

How much? $160.

Enjoy!

Full Bloom

Four day weekend for me!! Super rare considering for most of the year a 2 day weekend is rare for me. I am going to enjoy these four days to the fullest... which means staying up past 10:30 at night and sleeping in past 5:30 for four days!!! woo hoo! I will fill the rest of the time by playing with the kitties, shopping, watching lots and lots of movies and getting the chance to clean my apartment. What can I say? I live on the edge. :)

This outfit was actually something I wore to work a week ago. I tend to not get dressed this "nice" or at least wear heels to sit around my apartment and play with kittens.

So I have been trying to live up the last few remaining days of summer weather in breezy blouses and sandals. My goal is wear all of my summer time shoes before boot season hits. This was one of the few pairs of shoes I bought this summer. I think I only bought 4 pairs all summer - all on sale and all shoes that will be used for years to come. While I do love a good shoe trend, I try to stick to ones that I can wear for more than one year. I am crazy about these heels. I wanted them last year, but the price tag always convinced me otherwise. Lucky for me I was reading Little Tin Soldier earlier this summer I found her link to the shoes at DSW... and they were in orange... and they were on clearance... and I had a coupon! It was like the shoe gods spoke and everything aligned for me. Don't you love when that happens?!  I am just glad that I am kinda cheap and didn't pay full price a year ago! Yippee for my mom teaching me to be frugal! Thanks mom! :)

Blouse: Bought in Mexico

Summer flowers from my parents. See Dad... I didn't kill them yet!

Shoe of the Week

This Shoe of the Week has been an obsession almost a year in the making.

Last January I saw Chiara on her blog The Blonde Salad wearing a pair of boots. Studded biker boots by Ash to be exact.  I am constantly reading her blog... I find her style to be constantly inspiring, but this look made me go crazy. She took almost all of my favorite things and put them all into one outfit. Funky boots? Check! Big scarf? Check! Leather jacket? Check! Comfy jeans? Check! All the ingredients for a perfect fall outfit. Makes me wish the temperatures would drop 20 degrees overnight so I could rock a similar ensemble... minus the dog.

Ok... back to the shoes... I immediately thought "I need those!" Well once I found them and found out their price tag I knew they would never be mine. Sad. However, their studded amazing-ness has never left my mind and when shopping online yesterday I found that Free People is selling these boots, but with a gunmetal stud which I love even more! Still they have that scary high price tag... but I will keep these photos on file and dream of someday having an extra 400 to sell on shoes. Someone want to give me 400 bucks for a pair of boots?! Any takers?!?

What? Ash Biker Studded Boots "Vedder Boots"

Where? Free People or Solestruck

How Much?  $385.00 <--- scary high price right?
Why do I always fall for really expensive shoes?!
