Way Back Wednesday

Here is another dose of photos that somehow got lost in the mix.

These were taken a few months ago, again obviously back when the weather wasn't so hot and sunny.

I was one of the lucky few shoppers who was able to score a few Missoni for Target pieces before they all sold out (or were put on Ebay by evil monsters!)  These shorts were by far my favorite item. They are a little big but insanely comfortable and surprisingly enough, they have been really easy to style.

Shorts: Missoni for Target
Cardigan: Urban Outfitters
Boots: Steve Madden
T-Shirt: Target

I got this nail polish from Forever 21. Cheap and fun! It took about 3 layers to get the sparkle effect that I was hoping for but it stayed on for a lot longer than expected. This polish also looks fantastic layered over other nail colors or worn on just the tips. (I did that to my sister's nails- gold tips to mint colored nails- looked amazing!!)

Put a little glitter in my life and the possibilities seem endless!

Looking back now, I really wish I would have taken the time to post this look a few months ago because it is undoubtably one of my favs! It has all the elements that make me insanely comfortable and happy.

Only downfall---- wearing boots with buckles with my crochet tights = lots of snags and holes! ooppss... sorry about that  fashion fail!

Orange You Glad I Didn't Say Banana

Sometimes you just have to be matchy-matchy.

Was searching and searching my closet for something to go with my orange boots. What better than my orange striped t-shirt? The idea was almost so obvious and so right in front of my face that I have passed over it every other time. I typically don't like matching colors exactly, but what the hell... gotta try something new now and then.

This is by far a typical "Emily" outfit. Comfy jeans, cute boots, oversized t-shirt, cardigan, necklace and glasses. Ta-da.... You too can put together these 6 things and look like me!  And who wouldn't want that?! :)

This Little Piggy Stayed Home

I am obsessed with the Sally Hansen Salon Effects.

Being a girl who is really hard on her nails and spends most of her time with a half painted hand, I was amazed when I first tried these a year ago. Normally I will take the time to paint my nails and then they will be chipped in less than an hour. How does that happen?! And since I never take the time to get pedicures or manicures and tend to not be very girly when it comes to my nails, these nail strips are a godsend.

They are fast and easy to put on (no dry time) and last a long time!  I especially love the graphic prints because if you make a mistake it is hardly noticeable.  The only downside is that they are a little pricey, about $10 a pack.

I had a few strips left over this time. Not enough to do my hands again and I wasn't about to let them go to waste, so what to do... what to do?! MY TOES!

An accent toe? Love the thought. And they lasted just as long on my piggy toes as it did on my hands.

I will definitely be doing this again in the future. Maybe even a whole foot next time, not just the piggy that stayed home. :)

Shoe of the Week

When I was a little girl I would go into my mom's closet and try on all of her shoes. (yes, the obsession began at an early age)

Sadly my sister and I were banned from the heels after one too many falls down the stairs,  but that still left the flats and wedges.

One of my favorite pairs to wear in my mom's closet were these navy mini-wedges that were in the exact same material as these Steve Maddens. So when I saw these I immedately had a flashback to being six and pretending to be a grown up in heels... now I'm wearing grown up heels and wishing I was six again.

Where? Steve Madden, Nordstrom

How Much? $100

These wedges would be great for a girl like me who prefers a boot over a sandals, but knows that her piggy toes need to breath in the summer.

I would wear these with dresses and cropped pants in the summer and would wear them all the way thru fall with fun tights.

I am loving the coral color because I see the most options with items I already own.  If you are going to spend a 100 bucks on a pair of shoes you need to be able to wear them more than one way.  It is awesome that they offer these in basic black and tan, but for a daring girl who loves a pop of color, the turquoise color is fantastic!

I will be adding these to my "must watch" list, where I wait until the shoes I love are dirt cheap! My best advice for other shoe lovers is to make a Watch List.... this way you can wait until the shoes are on sale or until a coupon code is available. Just takes a little patience.

Way Back Wednesday

It is a little sad the number of photos that I have taken, but never posted. Truly shameful.

So Ladies and Gents, introducing Way Back Wednesday. Every week I will be posting a photo taken over the last year or so which has gotten lost on my hard drive. It is a little selfish really, but I just can't stand the idea of all of this fashion and style going to waste.

In honor of today being a super hot first day of summer I opted for an outfit that I wore this past winter. Because ya know... I know what we are all thinking about when it is 100 degrees outside.  Fur lined coats... Am I right or has all the heat gone to my head?!

I really wish I could be wearing this today....

Jeans: American Eagle
Shirt: Urban Outfitters
Boots: Sigerson Morrison for Target
Jacket: Vera Wang for Kohls

I felt like such a rock-star in this outfit. The boots add a fun pop of color to the otherwise plain outfit. My favorite go-to is to grab an all black and white outfit and add a pop of color in the shoes or accessories.

I can't wait for the weather to cool off so I can wear this jacket again. I waited so long last winter to purchase it, (waiting for it to go on sale) that by the time I owned it I only got to wear it once or twice. Luckily it is the type of jacket that will never go out of style... plus it is insanely soft and comfortable... like wearing a blanket.

Bun Head

A little life lesson... I fell asleep last night with my hair tied in a messy bun on the top of my head. I woke up late this morning and didn't have time to do anything else to my hair so I simply re-tied the bun and ran out the door.

Let me tell you that I have never received so many compliments on my hair. Obviously people like it better when I put in zero effort... Lesson learned.

So from here on out... I will not be doing my hair.... bring on the compliments!! :)

I am really getting sick of this green fake grass porch.

Jean Jacket

When I was getting ready for this year's spring and summer I knew I had to find one thing for my closet....a cute jean jacket.

For years I resisted the classic wardrobe staple because I thought "just say no to the Canadian tuxedo" (ya know, jean jacket + jeans= denim overload)

But the more I stretched my mind I realized there are many other ways to wear a jean jacket. Duh. It was like a lightbulb went off over my head and the hunt was on! I was on the hunt and a few months back found the perfect one at American Eagle. I was patient and waited for a sale.... but this baby is worth full price.

Makes me feel like I am a kid again. All I need is a side pony tail in a scrunchee and some puffy paint or flower patches on my coat.

Sometimes the best outfits are the ones that are kept simple.

Jean Jacket: American Eagle
Dress: American Eagle
Boots: Steve Madden "Pembrook"

(Please forgive all the wrinkles--- This is how I look after an 8 hour workday and an hour long commute. Wrinkles at their finest!)

Best part of this dress is the back detail. The zig zag elastic shows just enough skin for a hot summer day. And for any girls out there who tan, it would give unique tan lines!!!

Shoe of the Week

This week's shoe proves that if you show me something enough I will end up loving it.

When I first saw this shoe in the store I thought 'ew'... as simple as that.  However, it has been popping up in emails and on every shoe site that I visit.

Here and now I have to admit that I am hooked. Sad to say that it has beat me down and now I officially like this shoe.

It has everything I love in a shoe... some studs mixed with a little sparkle.. a touch of leopard all thrown together in a comfy flat... it is the perfect recipe for awesome.  I'm sold.

And if you aren't sold... give it a few days... it sinks in. I promise.

Where? Steve Madden, Nordstrom, Zappos, Endless
(pretty much everywhere)

How Much?  $100

And for those slightly less adventurous out there.
It also comes in solid black, gold and silver.
