SNOW

A snow storm in October?! Yeah it happened.

Walked into work Saturday morning and there was only rain. Walked out of work 8 hours later and there was a layer of snow everywhere.

This is very unusual for where I live. Earlier this week I was wearing only a light jacket, but yesterday I was longing for a gloves and extra layers. Snow in October isn't normal, but it was a nice surprise.

Sadly, by the end of today most of the snow has melted, but it was pretty while it lasted.

Out little snow storm has made me super excited for winter even though it is still weeks away. Gotta get all of my winter clothes ready.... boots, gloves, scarves and heavy coats... it is almost time!

Shoe of the Week

Attention Boyfriend: These would be the best Christmas gift! Hint hint.

WHERE? Nordstrom, Endless, Piperlime

HOW MUCH? Just under $200.

I have been searching for a pair of boots just like these for months. A girl at work wears a pair very similar to these almost everyday (and everyday I drool.) Sadly her pair is vintage, otherwise I would have hunted them down and bought them by now. I have also been tempted to knock her down and steal them right off her feet -- but I am already seen as the strange one at work, so I don't think show-napping would be a good idea.

I did however, find this pair and other than the fact that I have to break these in by myself, they seem just as perfect as a used pair! Maybe I can pay someone to wear them around for a few days to break them in just right for my feet. Any takers?

These boots may seem expensive, but they will be well worth their money. These waterproof leather boots will last thru this coming winter and will survive many winters to come. I know that I would get my money's worth out of this perfect fall/winter staple. I love the worn in brown leather and the sturdy heel to take that look up just a notch!

I can already imagine the outfits I could create.

I have now entered dangerous obsession mode... this is bad.

Let the hunt begin for me to find the best deal possible for these shoes... because we all know... I never pay full price for a pair of shoes!

Have you heard of Frocktober?

image via modcloth

A little known fact about me... I love buying things for a good cause. Give me a product that donates time, money or really anything to a person in need and I am sold. Simple as that.

I am such a sucker for companies such as Toms and Warby Parker, not only because their products are top notch, but because of their extraordinary mission statements and the work done behind the scenes. (Tom shoes donates a pair of shoes for every pair bought and Warby Parker donates glasses.)

Well when Modcloth sent an email about the Frocktober Dress my ears perked up. First of all the dress is insanely cute and screams "fall", but the dress also has great meaning to it. It is in support of Ovarian Cancer and 20% of the proceeds from the dress are donated to the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation of Australia. According to the Modcloth website:

Have you heard? It’s Frocktober! What does this mean? During the month of October, people around the world are rocking frocks to raise funds and awareness for ovarian cancer research.  Since its start in 2007, when a group of friends in Geelong, Australia each donned a dress, went out to a pub, and passed around a hat to raise $200, Frocktober continues to grow each year with more women — and some men — rocking frocks for the cause. The Frocktober challenge is simple: wear a dress to raise funds and awareness for ovarian cancer research.
I had never heard of such a thing until just a few weeks ago, but now I am obsessed. Make sure to check out the dress and pick one up. Wear your support in orange!
I found a few of my favorite bloggers showing their support and looking extra cute in their Frocktober dresses. Who knew one dress could be worn so many different ways?! Styled so differently yet equally adorable- these girls never seem to disappoint.

Goodbye Summer...kinda

So this was meant to be my goodbye summer post.. you know like 4 weeks ago or whenever the last day of summer really happened. Man, I have really lost track of time.

This was my last-day-of-summer outfit. These pants are just a little too white for me to wear them in the fall. I don't follow all the fashion rules like "black and blue should never be seen outside the washing machine" or having to match belt to shoes. But I do follow the no white pants after Labor Day rule. And while these pants are not totally white... I just can't help but feel that they are very summer and should be stored during colder months.

I actually don't wear them very often because they have 0% spandex and I feel like if i sneeze too hard I could bust the seams, but I just can't seem to let them go. They have been taking up room in my closet for probably 5 years and have only been worn maybe 5 times per year.

This will be the first and last post with these pants in it because I decided that they will be going to Salvation Army. Some lucky girl who likes to break fashion rules and has smaller thighs than me will be thrilled to find these pants! Please give them a good home.

It wasn't until I just started to type up a list of where everything came from that I realized it ALL came from American Eagle over the past 5 years. Everything... I mean everything. Jeans? AE, Shirt? AE, Tank? AE, Sandals? AE, Undies and Bra? Yes, you guessed it....AE. I think it is time I started to explore new stores.

Back in Black...and White Stripes

So I have to admit... I actually wore this weeks ago. I have a good 10 outfits that I never posted during my time away from the blog. Can we just pretend that this was taken this weekend? It was a bit warmer a few weeks ago. If I tried wearing this today I would need a cozy cardigan... and maybe some socks.

I had to wear all of my sandals and summery shoes before the temperature dropped. I think I succeeded. Just cleaned my closet a bit today and realized there was only one pair of shoes that I wished I had worn more this summer. So I made a little mental note to wear it more next year... all of my shoes need to get their fair share of love. Otherwise they get sad.

These are my new-ish glasses from Warby Parker. They are amazing and the best part is that I can see so clear again!!  I was using glasses with my old prescription (6 years old) and I was getting headaches at work everyday. These glasses are amazing and under $100... I don't know what took me so long to buy them. They are nerdy just like me and I love them.

These shoes were my first pair of Jeffrey Campbell. Obsessions have to being somewhere right?

I bought these last summer from Nordstrom. Long story short.... I went to Lilith Fair with my sister. One of the singers was wearing shoes just like these and I knew in an instant that I "needed those shoes!" So that led to weeks upon weeks of searching and price checking until I finally caved and bought these Jeffrey Campbell Cast Sandals.

No regrets here. They are amazingly comfortable and can we worn with dresses or pants. I have worn these so many times and I really don't want to stop for fall. Maybe i'll try wearing colorful socks under them this fall and see how that works. I am just not ready to push them to the back of my closet just yet.

Shoe of the Week

Back to normal programming with a Shoe of the Week.

This shoe has been haunting me for weeks. I found it online while I was searching for leopard print shoes (I know I need at least one new pair of leopard shoes for fall). I originally was obsessed with the Leopard Madee by Steve Madden, but my focus quickly shifted when I found these.

Where: So far I have found them at Nordstrom, Endless, HSN, Free People, ASOS, Piperlime and Zappos.

How Much: $160-$190
(I have been going Google-crazy searching for a coupon code.)

I want these booties so bad. Simple as that. I can not stop thinking about them and I have found myself searching for them everyday for the past two weeks, hoping against hope that they had suddenly slashed the price. Why are all the most amazing shoes so expensive?!

Maybe I can eat Ramen for a few weeks and then buy them... worth it.

I'm Back.

A life lesson to everyone reading... Never put a kitten in charge of running a blog.

He has really been slacking on his blogging duties. I keep finding him napping on my laptop.

Thanks for trying Bobbins, but I think we will go back to you sitting on my lap while I type.

Lesson learned.
